Those are mood boards that would inspire Weird Creatures Collection.
I love comic character Judge death and comic book art in general. The inspiration is contrast, shape, armour, panels.
So researching more into armour I cam across samurai armour, which is very detailed and has a tribal vibe to it. I also look to lasercut some of the shapes from the samurai moodboard for textures fabric and jewelry.
Samurai used masks in battles to scare off enemy, so I came across this mask artist on http://www.etsy.com/shop/Merimask , who works in Japanese legend/ghost stories theme and I thought her masks are very inspirational, so i dedicated a mood board to them.
And finally researching into Japanese ghosts and art for colour ideas!
I am currently working on my new collection, which is super exciting. It is called Weird Creatures and it’s going to be all about little details and prints! I would like to create something original and unique but still stay affordable. I believe my customer is a young woman 18-28, a uni student or a young professional. Someone who follows fashion and likes to look unique without spending much on her wardrobe. My collection will consist of tops, dresses, skirts, jewelry and hair accessories. And maybe even bags and tees, but I have to see about that later : )
As it’s getting colder here in London, and me having no jacket for autumn, I decided to make a biker. It’s quite in fashion at the moment and it looks really slick and sharp. I have made it waist length and quite boxy with asymmetrical lapel with metal buttons (covered in black net) being the main feature. Of course leather is way out of my budget, so i used thin neoprene, which keeps nice shape, doesn’t crease, waterproof and keeps me really worm : )
